The prevalence of blooming orchids in seemingly every retail outlet has continued to affect all orchid-related businesses, including Oak Hill Gardens. Thankfully, we still enjoy the privilege of dealing with hobbyists like you who enjoy the challenge and adventure of discovering and growing new and different varieties.

We have done our best to supply the largest possible variety of orchid species, hybrids and mericlones at reasonable prices. Hermann continues to operate our laboratory and flasking operation. He has produced much of what you see on this website by sowing seed from our extensive stud plant collection. His focus has continued to be the propagation of species orchids; you will see that reflected on the website. In addition, we continue to find new international sources for unusual species and exciting hybrids and clones. This year's offerings include plants imported from Panama, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Ecuador, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Taiwan, Holland, Germany and the Philippines.

The growing of species orchids continues to gain popularity every year. You will find hundreds of different species varieties available within our website. In addition, we continue to offer fine Cattleya alliance mericlones, increasingly available through extensive breeding programs in Taiwan and Thailand, and also here in the US. Also listed within are both mericlones and seed–grown varieties of many other genera.

Every month we offer plant or supply specials on our website. In addition, we always post currently spiking and budded varieties on the home page, ready to ship so that you can get a quick fix of color, if you so desire! We have also been sending out an Oak Hill Gardens e-newsletter since summer of 2007. There are many more varieties available in the Oak Hill Gardens greenhouses which we do not have in sufficient quantities to list on our website. If you like to explore, come visit us to discover other rare gems amongst our “odds and ends.”

If you are unable to visit us, plan to attend one of the many orchids shows in which we will be taking part. The 2008 show schedule is listed under “upcoming events.” You also won't want to miss the Sixteenth Annual Chicagoland Orchid Festival on September 26-27-28, 2008 (contact us for details!).
